     Dawn Dyer

One hundred years ago, American women — half of the U.S. population — were not allowed to vote, yet many Americans take that right for granted today, and one out of three eligible women fails to exercise her right.

Ventura County’s own Dawn Dyer, President and Founding Partner of Dyer Sheehan Group, Inc, is one of eight California delegates to Vision 2020 National Women’s Equality Initiative, founded by Drexel University’s Institute for Women’s Health and Leadership. Vision 2020 is committed to promoting women’s equality in four key areas: Shared Leadership, Economic Parity, Youth Education and Civic Engagement.

By honoring the hard work of the suffragists of a century ago through telling their stories, and those of so many other women who have been left out of history books, Vision 2020 intends to inspire women to act like the majority they are through increased civic engagement for years to come, starting with a campaign to mobilize women in record numbers in the 2020 national elections.

VCPWN is thrilled to have Dawn share with us her excitement about engaging the public to celebrate the upcoming centennial of the 19thAmendment by educating people about the Women’s Suffrage movement, and encouraging citizens to honor the sacrifices of these American heroines by Using your Voice, and Using your Vote!

We hope you will join us, and tell other women in your life about this important, inspiring evening. Please register early, to ensure we have enough seating for this dinner meeting.

September is the month we celebrate VCPWN’s Warrior Woman Award. Who is the woman who inspires you, supports you, advocates for you, personally or in your career? Or, who is a woman you’d like to recognize for her contributions to the economic, social, workplace, or domestic lives of many women? Please submit your brief essay or poem about your nominee for the Warrior Woman award, with a photo if possible, to Past President Sue Osborn at sueosborn917@gmail.com. All photos will be displayed, and one written submission will be selected for special acknowledgement. Be sure to invite your nominee to attend!
