Empowering Foster Youth Through Philanthropy and Professional Women’s Networking in Ventura County

The Ventura County Professional Women’s Network (VCPWN) is proud to announce our official 2025–2026 nonprofit partnership with James Storehouse, a local leader in supporting foster youth and families in crisis. As an organization rooted in women’s networking, leadership, and contribution, we believe in using our platform to uplift both our members and our community.
By supporting James Storehouse, we’re combining professional women’s networking with meaningful community service in Ventura County, creating opportunities for our members to give back while building strong connections with purpose-driven professionals.
What Is James Storehouse?
James Storehouse is a nonprofit based in Newbury Park that has been quietly transforming lives across Ventura and Los Angeles counties. Their mission is to support children and youth impacted by the foster care system by providing critical resources from cribs to college. Whether it’s a newborn just placed with a foster family, a teenager aging out of care, or a family in crisis, James Storehouse steps in with dignity, compassion, and practical support.

They serve an average of 1,600 children and families every month—a staggering number that highlights both the need and the heart behind their work. In 2023 alone, they helped over 19,000 individuals, thanks to the support of volunteers, donors, and community organizations.
Their services include:
Essential Resources: Clothing, hygiene items, bedding, kitchenware, school supplies, groceries, and baby gear are distributed to families in need—often within hours of a request.
Youth and Family Programs: James Storehouse offers mentorship opportunities, life skills workshops, transitional housing support, and mental health services for foster youth transitioning to independence.
Seasonal and Special Events: Through initiatives like the Back-to-School Bash, Holiday Giving, Easter Basket Drives, and Baby Showers, James Storehouse brings joy and normalcy to children who often go without.
What makes James Storehouse so unique is their responsive model. They work closely with social workers, caregivers, and foster youth themselves to understand what’s needed—and then provide it quickly and without red tape.
Why This Partnership Matters
At VCPWN, we know the power of women coming together with purpose. Our members are business leaders, entrepreneurs, creatives, and professionals—but more importantly, we are neighbors, mentors, and women who care about lifting others up.
By choosing James Storehouse as our featured nonprofit for the 2025–2026 year, we are choosing to support some of the most vulnerable members of our community: children in foster care and the families who step up to care for them. These are not abstract causes. They are local. They are urgent. And they deserve our attention.

Throughout the year, we’ll be gathering physical donations to support key moments in the lives of these children, such as:
Back-to-School – Providing backpacks, school supplies, lunch bags, and new shoes
Holiday Giving – Donating gifts, coats, and comfort items to ensure every child feels remembered
Easter Drive – Creating baskets filled with treats and thoughtful goodies
Ongoing Essentials – Hygiene kits, undergarments, pajamas, and more
In addition to gathering donations, VCPWN will present a financial contribution to James Storehouse in June 2026, which will go directly toward expanding their programs and sustaining their daily operations.
How You Can Help
Our July 2025 meeting will kick off this partnership with a Back-to-School donation drive in support of James Storehouse’s annual event for foster youth. We’ll have:
A downloadable PDF with the full list of requested items
A link to the official Amazon Wish List for easy shopping
A collection table at the July VCPWN meeting
Whether you bring a backpack, purchase a few items online, or help us spread the word, you’re making a difference.
Together, we’ll show these kids that they are seen, supported, and cared for by our community.
A Call to Collective Empowerment
Supporting James Storehouse isn’t just about providing material goods—it’s about creating a ripple effect of compassion. Every toothbrush, pair of socks, and school supply we donate tells a child: You Matter. Every dollar we raise says to a foster parent or social worker: We Support You. Every shared post, tag, or Amazon click is a step toward something better.
This partnership reflects what VCPWN is all about—
empowered women empowering others.
Let’s make the VCPWN 2025–2026 year one of powerful impact, generosity, and heart. Together, we can help James Storehouse continue to be a light for youth who need it most.
