Need some help staying motivated to exercise and eat healthier?

Do you or someone you know seem to keep re-losing the same weight? If so, I can relate. That is why I chose this as my doctoral dissertation. It's more than just less calories in and exercising more. Recent research has indicated that the ubiquitous cell phone may provide the needed support and accountability that makes the difference between success or failure.

It's a mystery...

The one thing better than having my first two forensic handwriting mystery novels released last year is having the third one come out on August 4! In DEAD WRITE, handwriting expert Claudia Rose goes to the Big Apple...

Dating can be dangerous, so clients who can afford the services of eccentric Russian "baroness", Grusha Olinetsky, are willing to pay the hundred thousand dollar fee she charges for an introduction to their perfect mate.

June Navigator's Meeting

We had a great time eating and talking at Sue Gary's home.
The food was delicious and the snacks were outrageous.
The conversations were lite and airy and fun. Just as
we promised. No business. There were 10 Navigators at
the table with many funny stories and lots of updates of
our lives over the last year or so. (We even have a newly
married lady among our midst).
We missed the members that could not attend on Monday. We
will be getting together again in September. Advance planning
will help us get a date to suit all, if ever that would be
possible.

Any Guinea Pigs Out There?

I'm looking for guinea pigs (job seekers) so I can test my new skills as a Job Search Strategist.

If you know somebody in mid to upper management who is wanting to change jobs or careers and is serious about putting in the time and effort to conduct a Targeted Job Search that could reap great benefits, please have them contact me (805) 647-4247 or tessa@venturaresumewriter.com.

Halfway through my training as a Job Search Strategist

Six weeks into my training as a Job Search Strategist, I'm so excited about all the possibilities.

Although I'm a top-notch resume writer with 25+ years of experience in the industry, it's been frustrating that I could not offer my clients information about what to do once they had their resume in hand (or in their e-mail).

Now I will be able to guide my clients through a 5-step Savvy Job Search, cutting through the misconceptions and mysterious maze of job search options with a proven step-by-step formula.

That's Showbiz...

A few weeks ago, I was interviewed by Dateline NBC in the Clark Rockefeller case, but if you blinked, you might have missed it. I knew the 30 minutes or so interview would be cut down, but I never expected it to end up being about 90 seconds! The day before the episode aired, they were able to interview some of the jurors, so most of my part was cut. Oh well.
I've posted the slides I made for the show, which we discussed during the interview: http://sheilalowe.com/documents/rockefeller.pdf

Gwenlyn Norton's Art Shows are Fabulous!

Friday evening Rita Frayer, Charlotte Gesling and I attended Gwenlyn's Artist Reception of her new show being held at the Coffee House of Peace Lutheran Church in Camarillo. The well attended event was a terrific showcase of Gwenlyn's talent. All pieces were lovely, from the smaller colored pencil pieces, through the incredible colored glass mosaic designs, and up to her Grand Polyptic suitably mounted on a bright red wall! If you have not seen Gwenlyn's work, you really should visit this show, titled, "Slices of Life" before it ends.

Tip from a Fire Chief

Over the weekend I lectured at a conference in Las Vegas given by the Public Safety Writers Association. Most of the attendees were in law enforcement who have written books or articles. I was there to talk about how handwriting analysis could help them understand their characters better by looking at what motivates them.
The hotel was off the Strip, my room was fantastic (and very inexpensive!). One entire wall was glass, looking out over a golf course and in the distance, the mountains.
