Big thanks to our fabulous special events team: Tony Mitchell, Mary Gabriels, Jeanne Laureen Lazarro, Linda McCarthy, Jeanne Haines for making this such a wonderful evening.

The November meeting will feature our Silent Auction--time to start shopping for the holidays! If you have something you'd like to contribute, send an email to info@vcpwn.org.

Job Search Strategist Joins Elite Group

After 18 weeks of intense study and field work, I finally made it!!!

I'm now a Certified Job Search Strategist, one of only a handful in the nation to be certified through Susan Britton Whitcomb's Job Search Academy.

This training will allow me to offer so much more than the sum of what I learned, as I now have an expanded circle of colleagues who share my dedication to partnering with people who want to manage meaningful careers and move forward faster.

VCPWN Mixer & Tabletop Business Expo Oct. 8, 2009

Please visit my booth at our upcoming event! I'd love to meet you, and learn more about your marketing needs. I have a terrific handout, "11 Key Questions Trade Show Exhibitors Should Answer" for those visitors considering exhibiting at future trade shows of any size. Besides my fabulous door prize, I will have a drawing at my booth for an additional spectacular gift.

Be sure to let your friends know this event is open to the general public ($5 fee at the door), and is open from 5:30 to 8:00 pm at the Wedgewood Banquet Center, 5880 Olivas Park Drive, in Ventura.

Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) - SEMINAR, Tues 9/29 5:30@Ventura Chamber

Looking for Investment Opportunities in Today's Market?
Consider Healthcare Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs).

Knowing about 76 million baby boomers rushing towards retiremnet, the healthcare industry's recession-resistant nature, and the fact that real estate values are starting to turn up, now may be a great time to diversify your portfolio with shares of a REIT that invests primarily in Healthcare Assisted Living Facilities.

Spread the Word: Mixer & Tabletop Business Expo--October 8

On October 8, VCPWN will provide a showcase for our members and an opportunity for non-members to experience the warmth and hospitality that we share.

We've got some great vendors lined up to display and sell their goods and services at this event. Now we need people to attend and see what's available! Tell everyone who you think would benefit from the Mixer/Expo and who might be interested in joining one of Ventura County's premiere professional women's organizations.

Where: The Wedgewood at 5880 Olivas Park, Ventura
When: October 8, 5:30-8:00 p.m.

Sad News on the loss of a long-time member

On August 24, 2009, long-time member and past VCPWN Board member Mary Sullivan passed away after complications of a sroke and heart surgery.

Mary served on the Board several times, most recently as Director of Finance. Mary has been an enthusiastic, supportive friend to many in VCPWN and in many other areas. Her volunteer work with re-entry women in an Oxnard program reaped remarkable results. Her work as an attorney in the field of family law focusing on juveniles and eldercare was renown.

It is with a sad heart that we remember Mary with fondness and admiration.

Thanks so much for your notes

Thank you so much to everyone for their lovely notes. I was so sorry to have missed the August meeting. I look forward to seeing everyone in September.
Sue Gary

Thanks, VCPWN friends!

On Tuesday, August 4, Martha Jaffe hosted a fabulous party at her home in the Keys to celebrate the release of my new mystery novel, Dead Write. About 75 friends and other readers showed up to enjoy good food, good company, and good bevs poured by Jim (Diego de bartendre) Nicoll. One couple came from Pahrump, NV!

I've posted most of the photos on my Facebook page, but here's one of Nancy Gregg-Keller and me, taken by Tessa Weeks.

Power of Suggestion

Have you ever gone into Costco to buy food and come out buying a computer or tv? I take your ad and put in on relevant websites. For example I go to Astrology.com to look for my soul mate and out of the corner of my eye I see an ad for Mary Kay Cosmetics. Now that gets me to thinking that if I don't improve my appearance I'm not going to get my Leo, Pisces, etc. So I click on the Mary Kay ad. That is the power of suggestion my friends - it is a powerful tool in advertising and I would love to use it for your business!
