“Clean Out Your Desk and Help A School”
You know that old adage about it’s better to give than to receive? What if you could do both at the same time? And it won’t cost any money!!
Shirley Jones, The Artful Organizer has partnered with Support for the Kids to organize a “Clean Out Your Desk and Help A School” event.
During July and August, The Artful Organizer will collect and store school supplies and donate them to the El Rio Elementary Schools during their Back to School Party at the end of August. This beleaguered school system serves almost 3,000 elementary school children every year. The teachers are faced with another shortage of supplies and ever growing classroom sizes.
All of us have “extra” stuff in our office or junk drawer that we don’t really want or need. That box of pens from our “old” company, or the legal size copy paper we never use, can be exactly what the classrooms need.
Here’s a wish list from the teachers:
• Pencils with erasers
• Blue, black and red pens
• Hi lighters (pink, blue, yellow, orange, green, and purple)
• Child safe scissors
• 4 color markers
• Big flat pink erasers
• Pencil top erasers
• 24 color Crayola crayons
• Crayola colored-pencils
• Glue sticks
• 2 pocket folders (plastic)
• Boxes of tissues
• Clorox wipes & baby wipes
• Hand sanitizer
• Post it notes (all sizes)
• Note paper
• Construction paper 9x12 & 12x18 all colors
• File Folders – manila and colored
• Masking Tape
• Butterfly Binder Clips – all sizes
• White board eraser
• White copy paper (full reams)
• Color copy paper (mixed reams OK)
• Pencil boxes, and canvas or plastic bags
• 1” white binder with clear cover overlay
• 2” white binder with clear cover overlay
• Homework folder with pockets
• 3x5 index cards (white and color)
• Spiral notebooks
• White 3 hole binder paper
• White 3 hole binder paper (wide lines)
• Sharpies – thin and thick
• Single hole Punch
• White glue
• Hand held pencil sharpener with cover
• Small solar calculators
• New or gently used books (Age 3 –10 years in English or Spanish)
• Games (checkers, chess, cards, jacks, marbles)
