As I hand the presidency of VCPWN over to Shirley Lorraine, I want to express my gratitude for the opportunity to serve this wonderful organization. I look forward to seeing it continue to grow and expand, helping the community and each other. It has truly been an honor.
At the Installation of Officers on June 9, some members of the Leadership Team move around to new positions, and two members join us:
Congratulations to member Diane de Mailly, owner of DDM Metering Systems, for being recognized as Business-woman of the Year by NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners). Diane has made her mark in a male-dominated industry and has exceeded even her own expectations. An article appeared in the Ventura County Star on May 24 about her achievements. We're proud you are a member of VCPWN! Congratulations!!
The Best of VC Marketplace is a new shop in Santa Paula, CA feauturing only Ventura County products! I am so honored to have been selected this year's recipient of the Spirit of Networking Award. Thank you to those anonymous persons who nominated me for this award. I was truly overwhelmed by your kind words, the beautiful card, lovely roses, gift certificate, and handsome award. What great memories I will always have of each and every one of you when I remember this wonderful evening. Rita Frayer
Congratulations to Rita Frayer, the 2011 recipient of the well-deserved Spirit of Networking award. Rita has been our hardworking Director of Finance for the past two years, always reliable through times of personal stress. She promotes VCPWN everywhere and is a wonderful representative of our organization.
Wahneta Poteet, a founding member and past president of VCPWN, fell and broke her hip. You can contact her at Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo. She's in Room 272. The phone number is 805-389-5800. Please let her know she is still cared about.
My neighbor is looking for a property manager. Is there anyone in VCPWN whom I can refer?
VCPWN is hosting a clothing sale 5/14 at The Kitchen in Oxnard from 10-3. Several women in need will be selected for a makeover and the clothing sale will fund it. If you have good clothing (men, women, kids) to donate: firstname.lastname@example.org. We'll even come and pick it up (Preferably before 5/10). Or just come and shop!
Another great VCPWN member benefit is the opportunity to get a mentor, serve as a mentor or both! Share expertise on our monthly mentoring committee call on Tuesday, May 3 at 4pm.
